Meet the Surgeons at MountainStar Cardiovascular Surgery

Each of our surgeons is a pioneer in their field. Each performs traditional and minimally invasive heart surgery almost every day. Each has published research and articles in prestigious medical journals and scientific publications. And each believes that patient care is the corner stone of a successful surgery.

• Dr. Affleck specializes in the Maze and Mini-Maze surgical ablation procedures for the treatment of atrial fibrillation and other cardiac arrhythmias.
• Dr. Thorne specializes in complex heart valve replacement and repair and is a recipient of the prestigious Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Fellowship from Boston Children's Hospital.
• Dr. Schorlemmer is known for multiple innovations in minimally invasive and catheter-based techniques for angioplasty, stenting, and grafting of aneurysms and blockages of the arterial tree and is a specialist in off pump cardiac surgery.
• Dr. Karwande has surgical expertise in coronary bypass surgery, valve replacement and repair, lung cancer surgery, heart and lung transplantation and artificial heart devices.
• Dr. Graham has received additional Endovascular surgical training and performs endovascular surgical procedures including iliac, renal, subclavian, superficial femoral artery, and below-knee arterial revascularizations.
